| "Swiftech's MCX478-V is one of the best hybrid, non-heatpipe coolers you can get. When equipped with a high speed fan, its performance is on par with other enthusiast heatsinks such as the XP-90. " April 2005 | |
| "The clever design of this heatsink will allow us to use, under normal circumstances, low noise and CFM fans without sacrificing CPU performance. The possibility of using 92mm fans also guarantees an exceptional performance if we do some overclock. So this heatsink will perfectly adapt to our needs, whatever they are, without renouncing to having an optimal temperature level. The innovative "v" design and the use of helicoid aluminium pins improves the performance of the heatsink remarkably, setting it among the best ones in the market." October 2004 | ![]() |
| "I
can confirm very good cooling results for the [MCX478-V] Pentium 4 version
of this cooler. It performs well, it's quiet and it cools 3000+@2210 MHz-3200+
with no crazy crashing.
This cooler is state of the art" May 2004 |

If
you are looking to keep your Pentium 4 running cool, then I strongly urge
you take a look at the MCX478-V. The design of this cooler just screams
sexy, but as we all know, how well it works is more important. Well, in
that department the MCX478-V fares just as well. .. All in all, I could
not find a flaw in this beautifully designed heatsink, so I am going to
give it a perfect score. Good job Swiftech. April 2004

"I
always have very high expectations for any Swiftech product, and the
MCX-478V delivered on all counts, sweeping the benchmarks across
the board. Of the three fans I chose for testing, I think the 2850rpm
52cfm Panaflo delivers the most bang for its noise level. ...Of course
you can pick whatever fan fits your particular system best, which is the
MCX-478Vs biggest advantage over the Zalman. Thanks to its much improved
mouting system and size that fits any socket 478 board, the MCX-478V is
the P4 cooler to beat, and wins an Editors Choice. Very highly recommended."

"It
[the MCX478-V]
is the best air cooler we've had a chance to test for the Pentium 4,and
I would consider this heatsink the minimum if you're eyeing a Prescott."

| "The Swiftech MCX478-V performed admirably. The innovative pin designed creates a larger surface area and thus cools more efficiently without causing problems... If you are looking at purchasing a heat sink and you plan to send your computer through eXtreme conditions, we would recommend you take a good look at the Swiftech MCX478-V." February 2004 | ![]() |

"The Swiftech MCX478-V heatsink is designed to fit the socket 478 and offers all the performance of the MCX462-V heatsink which was released a few months ago." November 2003

| "Installation of the MCX478-V couldn't be much easier..The performance turned in by the Swiftech MCX478-V clearly demonstrates that it is suitable for an impressively wide range of applications. It runs with equal efficiency whether utilized in extreme quiet or extreme performance situations." Nobvember 2003 | |

" The MCX478-V
outperforms Swiftech's claim of being optimized for 22cfm fans...This
heatsink plus 80mm or 92mm Panaflo L1A at 7 volts will provide near
silent cooling for most P4 systems. It utilizes the stock Intel retention
bracket and is very easy to install. This makes it a near "Plug-n-Play"
solution for cooling hot running P4 processors on a quiet PC."
