MCRES-525 (patent pending)
Introduction
The patent pending MCRES-525 is
a reservoir designed to fit into 5 1/4" drive bays. The product
is molded from high-density polyethylene for long term durability,
and was specially designed to operate efficiently with high-pressure
high-flow pumps.
Features & Benefits
Performance features, "Unrestricted Flow":
- Stepped down discharge compartment eliminates
air entrainment into the pump: the powerful suction created
by high-pressure high-flow pumps tend to create syphons in shallow
reservoirs. The syphon entrains air bubbles into the pump inlet,
causing it to cavitate. The stepped down compartment prevents
this from occuring.
- Unrestricted inlet and discharge ports (3/8"
NPT thread) allow power users to use large diameter tubing (up
to 5/8" barbs).
- Dual inlet compartment allows the return of
two devices installed in parallel (Chipset & VGA water-blocks,
for example), thus reducing the overall pressure drop in the
circuit.
Reliability Features, "Durable and safe":
- Durable blow-molded high-density polyethylene
construction eliminates stress and aging related cracks commonly
occurring with acrylic material.
- Reliable one piece construction eliminates
the potential for leaks in the joints found in glued acrylic
panel constructions.
- Threaded brass inserts for installation in
the drive bay provide a secure assembly.
- 3/8" (NPT) tapered threaded ports provide
industry standard safe and reliable seal.
- Fill-hole cap features an O-ring for a reliable
seal.
Convenience Features, "User Friendly":
- Fits in any 5 1/4" drive bay, and installs
like any other 5 1/4" device with industry standard fine
thread screws (M3-0.5).
- Recessed sides in the forward section of the
reservoir provide ample clearance to use most standard 5 1/4"
bay covers.
- 3/8" (NPT) threaded ports offer the versatility
to use a variety of fittings, from 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"
or 5/8" barbs to quick-connect adapters.
- Large fill-hole for a quick system fill or
refill.
How it compares to Swiftech's
own FBK525 fill-and-bleed kit
- Advantages:
- More user friendly for fill (initial setup)
and refill (maintenance) operations.
- Less flow-restrictive.
- More economical.
- Less joint liabilities.
- Drawbacks:
- the system cannot be pre-tested "dry".
- flushing out the system requires disconnecting
a section of the circuit (unless a T and ball-valve assembly
was to be added to the circuit).
