H20-8501™ SERIES LIQUID COOLING KITS

CUSTOMIZING YOUR OWN KIT FROM VARIOUS COMPONENTS

  • Adding a second radiator is easy, and recommended in the following scenarios:

    • Dual CPU setup: while operating dual CPU's with the basic single radiator kit is possible, the extra thermal load placed on the cooling system might require installing a stronger fan than that delivered with the kit, thus increasing audible noise. Adding a second radiator to the loop restores the proper balance between high performance and low noise offered by the basic H20-8501 kit.
    • Extreme Overclocking: for enthusiast users seeking to squeeze extra Mhz from their microprocessors.
    • Extremely quiet operations: where silent operations are preferred, adding a second ratiator will allow users to operate the fans at low speed, using a rheostat for example, while maintaining optimum processor temperature, even under substantial overclocks.

For optimum performance, it is imperative to connect two radiators in a "parallel" configuration, and not in series. Starting from any section of the circuit, use a "Y" connector to split the line in two , and connect each branch to the inlet of each radiator. Then connect each outlet tube from the radiators to a second "Y" and re-attach the discharge from the Y to the rest of the circuit. A second radiator installed in such a way will afford a CPU temperature improvement of 5°Cto 7°C.

  • Adding a second water-block for multiprocessor environments is even easier, as water-blocks need only to be connected in series: the discharge from one to the inlet of the other.

  • Adding VGA and/or chipset coolers follows the same rule as adding a second water-block: simply daisy chain the devices in series following the CPU water-block.

Note concerning high-end VGA adapters, such as ATI® Raideon® 9700/9800 or nVidia® FX58/5900: it is suggested that adding a second radiator to the circuit will also enable higher overclocks with such graphic adpaters.

  • Configuring the kit for 3/8" OD tubing: while it must be noted that 3/8" OD tubing will significantly reduce coolant flow-rate and affect cooling performance, such a configuration is possible, and sufficient in non or mildly overclocked systems: for example when users are mainly concerned with quiet operations. The following parts are then needed to adapt the kit to 3/8" OD tubing:

    • Radiator:
      Part # PI0412S

    • Pump, fill & bleed kit, and water-blocks: simply plug-in the following adapter into each 1/2" fitting, to reduce them to 3/8":
      Part # PI061612S
